Rubber Boots FAQ
How to take care of rubber boots?
If properly taken cared of, a pair of rubber boots will
usually last for a long time. Wash the rubber boots from time
to time with sponge and warm soap water. Avoid using rough
brush and the use of solvent detergents. Always dry the rubber
boots at room temperature, never dry them in a boiler room or
heated cupboard.
Where to store rubber boots?
Rubber boots should be stored vertically at room
temperature. Heat and light will both damage the rubber. So
it's important to avoid any direct sunlight or hot rooms. In
contrast, it won't do any damage to your rubber boots even if
your rubber boots are stored in an outdoor cabin over
winter.
Why is my rubber boots’ surface turning grey?
The surface of rubber boots is finished with silicone and
lacquer during manufacture. However, silicone can be decomposed
and washed away relatively easily if the rubber boots are
heavily used or constantly exposed to direct sunlight. In such
situation, the rubber boots’ surface is particularly vulnerable
to the UV radiation, which will cause the surface to become
grey or even worse, perish.
In order to prevent this from happening, it helps to apply
silicone rubber conditioner regularly on your rubber boots,
which will not only avert the fading, but also maintain the
elasticity of the rubber boots.
